Dr. Buckley has worked in the veterinary field since he was 13 years old. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he worked his way through undergraduate at UC Davis and earned his DVM at North Carolina State University. In 2010, he and his wife packed up their three horses and two dogs to move to Michigan and have never looked back.
Passionate about animal welfare, Dr. Buckley served as Medical Director of the Humane Society of West Michigan and Kent County Animal Control prior to joining Richland Animal Hospital in 2017. In 2021, he achieved his dream of practice ownership when he purchased 'Animal Clinic' and has since worked diligently to modernize the facility while respecting the legacy of Kalmazoo's oldest veterinary hospital.
In addition to internal medicine, Dr. Buckley has a special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Dr. Buckley has received additional training to repair certain types of fractures and cruciate (ACL) injuries.
When not at the clinic, you may see him with his two boys, Wife and Standard Poodle at the Richland Park or one of Kalamazoo's many hiking trails. He also serves as Attending Veterinarian for Western Michigan School of Medicine and is an active member of the AVMA, MVMA, and South West Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.
